A few images, from our trip to Boston a couple of years ago.
I’d never been to Boston, and maybe was much less excited about being in Boston than I was about being in New York. We had just left New York, taking the train into Boston. It was our second trip to New York, a very short one. Only enough time to see a few sights, eat some great food, visit wonderful friends– and to get engaged, over a glass of wine in the East Village.
How could a week in Boston compare to the magic of Manhattan? It was hot, it was muggy, it was.. Massachusetts. But we explored, most of the time with family, and I found so many things to photograph.
So much history, so much good food, so much brick!
So many things that I knew my father would love to see, if he ever gets a chance to visit.
By the time we left Boston and made our way back to Los Angeles, I found myself missing it… I missed sitting in a cafe on a hot afternoon, sipping Campari and soda… I missed the gelato… the beautiful buildings.
Boston, I am thinking of you, today.
Sometimes.. it pays to look in unexpected places for beauty. The beauty is in the details.
A few more images, from our weekend away..
The Minor Thread original ‘California Love’ pillow cover is quickly becoming a classic..
Minor Thread - California Love Pillow
Each Golden State is hand-cut and hand-stitched with love, and just a hint at what’s to come from Minor Thread!
I’m not one to relax, much. I’m not too good at “getting away.” But after a stressful first half of the year, it was agreed that- if only for one night- we could make the time to get away.
First, a cup of coffee at our favorite local coffee bar, Handsome.
Then North, up the coast (and through the woods) to Los Olivos.
Loved this little market in the center of town.
Then over to visit some of our friends in the wine business..
After which we spotted this beauty… A full restored vintage Airstream-style trailer, outfitted to serve.. you guessed it: cupcakes.
And then on to the next…
Had a great time at the East Los Angeles Farmer’s Market this morning. A small market, but definitely a hidden gem of the East Side.
Now.. to put all of this good produce to use!
Inspired by a question posed by the folks at Baggu this morning, I dreamt up this perfect little outfit for Spring! Of course, the only thing missing is a camera and that airline ticket from LAX-JFK.
1) Haney Dress, Steven Alan 2) Yellow Colorblock Hat, Target 3) Old Tennis Shoe, Swedish Hasbeens 4) Heart Shaped Buckle Belt, Asos 5) Lucite Ball Necklace, Far4
Now, who’s ready for a trip?
One of the most fun parts (so far!) of wedding planning has been dreaming up exactly what the day will look like. To set the tone, I started collecting vintage California postcards… It’s been a fun task, involving many hours on eBay and a few trips to the flea market.
The not fun part? Sending all of these beauties off, as save-the-date cards. So I decided to scan them all– yes, all!– so I can continue to enjoy them.
I have a lot of these, so there will be more to share, later!
